Stability
Deliver specimens fresh to Histology ASAP. Hold specimens at 2-8oC if necessary or once in Histology.
*Brushings (bronchial, bile duct, esophogeal, etc.): Immerse smear immediately in alcohol. Clip brush off and place in formalin, Saccomanno's or Cytolyt.
*Fine needle aspiration: Fix slides immedately in a container with 95% alcohol or spray with cytology fixative. Some slides may be air dried. Needle and syringe should be rinsed into a container with formalin, Saccomanno's or Cytolyt.
*Breast smear or secretion: Fix slide immediately in 95% alcohol or spray with cytology fixative.
Transfer Instructions
Transport specimen at 2-8°C.
