Each MTP cooler contains 4 units O Neg pRBC and 4 AB FFP for uncrossmatched emergency transfusion. A Runner from the patient floor will be required to pick up product coolers from blood bank. Coolers will continue to be prepared until the patient care team communicates the end of MTP to blood bank. Obtaining Blood in an Emergency

FMC ED Blood Fridge is stocked with pRBCs, FFP, and Whole Blood that can be used prior to arrival of first MTP cooler. These products are only avaialble for ED patients.

Blood Bank staff will order ABO Confirm if patient does not have prior history. Confirm specimen must be collected at a different time than banded specimen. BB Patient ID Policy
